Black Samurai Camera Strap | for Leica M11 Glossy Black Paint
For the Labyrinth “Black Samurai” limited edition, I was honored to create a strap tailored specifically for the Leica M11 Glossy Black Paint.
Inspired by the commanding presence of the Black Samurai, I designed this strap to embody the subtle power and layered depth of its namesake. The braiding is executed using the traditional Japanese Kumihimo technique, entirely by hand.
The surface presents a refined composition of black, deep charcoal, grey, and silver-white threads—evoking the gleam of armor and the quiet intensity of the warrior. As the strap turns, the reverse side reveals a sophisticated gradient: black fading into black, a detail both understated and deliberate, like the shadow a samurai casts in moonlight.
This particular braiding structure, traditionally used for the hilts of Japanese swords, offers a remarkably soft and comfortable feel while maintaining its strength and form.
Every thread is hand-dyed and hand-braided, carrying the essence of Japanese tradition into a modern form—a tribute to the spirit of the Black Samurai and the Leica M11 Black Paint itself.
